Helsinki Biobank chose LabVantage Laboratory Information Management System
Helsinki Biobank, owned by the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa (HUS), southern Finland, has selected the LabVantage Information Management System for managing the information related to biobank samples and sample donations. Helsinki Biobank is located at Meilahti campus, known for its internationally distinguished and top-notch medical research.
Helsinki Biobank collects, stores and hands over biological samples and medical information related to the samples for medical research and development. These samples are collected from patients in the biggest Finnish health care district and specific catchment area. HUH specific catchment area has over 1,9 million inhabitants. In addition, already existing sample collections and samples of future research projects can be stored in Helsinki Biobank. Helsinki Biobank will be handling tens of thousands samples annually.
The aim is to build a smooth and optimal information management system to support Helsinki Biobank and its processes, a central part of the biobank´s whole information management entity. As the amount of information is increasing and becoming more complex, the chosen information management system is expected to possess firm performance and fluent data processing.
