With the LIS, geneticists and laboratory staff can easily access all relevant case or patient information, place new test orders, enter detailed notes (either predefined or manually written), and record results and observations. The system accommodates complex workflows that can be predefined and automated, while still allowing users to manually introduce additional steps or tests when required. It also supports inquiries such as proband or family investigations, and provides functionality for due‑date handling, alerts, and multi‑step approval processes.
All registered objects are status‑tracked and assigned a unique ID. Integrated label printing allows these IDs to be scanned at any stage of the laboratory process to ensure maximum patient safety. Full traceability is maintained for all actions performed, and related samples—such as those from family members—are linked accordingly. The suite also includes advanced tools for planning, monitoring, and statistical analysis to support clinical and production workflows, capacity planning, turnaround‑time follow‑up, and overall performance tracking.

Sample requests may be submitted manually or received electronically through integrations with EMR, HIS, web portals, or request‑form scanning solutions. These requests and their corresponding reports can be limited to Genetics or combined with orders originating from Pathology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or other disciplines. Once samples arrive in the laboratory, the system guides users through the appropriate distribution steps. If necessary, users can also locate stored samples in freezers when they are not delivered with the request. Inquiry functionality allows multiple patients to be included in a single investigation, such as in family‑based studies.
The solution accommodates a variety of genetic workflows—including FISH, molecular genetics, and cytogenetics—and supports automation rules tailored to each process step. Users can configure multiple approval levels to meet their laboratory’s needs.
