University of Helsinki selects LabVantage LIMS from Software Point as their laboratory information management system
Read in Finnish. Software Point has won the bid for the laboratory information management system (LIMS) of the Finnish Museum of Natural History (Luomus), an independent research institution functioning under the University of Helsinki. Software Point and the University of Helsinki have signed a framework agreement, which means that other laboratories at the university can take Software Point’s LabVantage LIMS into use as well.
Thorough tendering
The public tender began already in December of 2014 when the University of Helsinki announced a request for information from LIMS vendors. The request called for a LIMS system, which supports the laboratory operations in the best possible way and which makes the Laboratory of Chronology the world's most advanced carbon-isotope laboratory for its laboratory information management system. The museum was looking for a LIMS for the Laboratory of Chronology, with the following key objectives:
- Supports laboratory accreditation (ISO 17025) and quality processes
- Reduces the workload of the laboratory personnel
- Simplifies laboratory information management
We are proud to bring in our expertise for the development of laboratory information management of the leading university in Finland.
The tendering process was thorough and well planned, which demonstrates that the university is experienced in public tendering and has deep understanding of the actual requirements for the system. For example, usability evaluation was part of the process, carried out by an external consultant. During usability evaluation, the functionality of the system and its ease of use features were put to test through several use cases. When at the end the tender was evaluated as a whole, Software Point was the clear winner, scoring 96 % of the total. ” We are proud to bring in our expertise for the development of laboratory information management of the leading university in Finland” says Marjut Pokkinen, the Managing Director of Software Point.
